Centrewood is an amazing very large heritage homestead situated halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown, making it an ideal place to break this popular journey. It is 40 mins from Dunedin, home of Otago University, the Dunedin rugby/concert covered stadium, Speights Brewery and Cadbury World. Centrewood is also close to Moeraki with its famous boulders and Fleurs Restaurant, and 1 hr from Oamaru with its Victorian precinct. We recommend staying at least two nights to make the most of all these attractions. Locally are seals and penguins, spectacular cliff top walking and wonderful native bird life in the grounds. Centrewood is a gardeners paradise with plentiful roses, rhododendrons and daffodils, as well as being a lifestyle farm. The homestead is over 100 years old and is a splendid example of the grandeur of yesteryear, being elegantly presented and tastefully furnished. The guest wing has a log burner for cosy winter evenings or a verandah for watching sunsets or enjoying al fresco drinks on summer evenings. Single party booking ensures your privacy. Afternoon tea on arrival with homemade scones/cakes is available on request. Guests can either be self catering and make use of the well equipped kitchen, or have dinner inhouse by arrangement. Our Platinum room is fully hosted including pre dinner drinks and a sumptuous breakfast while our Silver + room option is essentially self catering but does include a basket of breakfast provisions.
